Assam down town University organized a practical, class-based activity under the Clinical Nutrition and Techno-Professional course, aimed at giving students hands-on experience in applying their theoretical knowledge.
Guided by Dr. Yashmin Nongrum, Dr. Jasmin Islam, and Dr. N. Kapaini Basena, the session focused on skill development in diet counselling, food demonstration, and public nutrition awareness, helping students understand how nutrition science can support lifestyle-related health issues. An In-Campus Diet Counselling Booth allowed students to provide personalized advice under faculty supervision for conditions like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, PCOS, chronic kidney disorders, and gut health concerns. Interactive food stalls showcased healthy recipes, while engaging games such as the Taro Nutrition Cards Game and Spin-the-Wheel Q&A encouraged participants to learn about nutrients in a fun way. 3D models on the theme “Eat Right for a Better Life” helped visualize the link between nutrition and disease prevention.
A special session on gut health and a display on the DASH Diet for Hypertension offered practical insights into low-sodium eating and meal planning. Participants also received customized diet charts for sustainable lifestyle changes. This initiative effectively bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, strengthening students’ professional skills while promoting healthy eating practices among the community.
