Presently, FPS AdtU offers M. Pharm programmes in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology. These programmes were established to fulfil the need for specialized knowledge in the NER region and to encourage graduates to continue their higher studies. A key objective of offering the M. Pharm programmes was to drive ongoing research activities by involving postgraduate students. As a result, postgraduate students have opportunities to advance their studies to the PhD level and select a career that aligns with their passions.

  • Pharmacy Knowledge: Possess knowledge and comprehension of the core and basic knowledge associated with the profession of pharmacy, including biomedical sciences; pharmaceutical sciences; behavioral, social, and administrative pharmacy sciences; and manufacturing practices.
  • Planning abilities: Demonstrate effective planning abilities including time management, resource management, delegation skills, and organizational skills. Develop and implement plans and organize work to meet deadlines.
  • Problem analysis: Utilize the principles of scientific enquiry, thinking analytically, clearly, and critically, while solving problems and making decisions during daily practice. Find, analyze, evaluate, and apply information systematically and shall make defensible decisions.
  • Modern tool usage: Learn, select, and apply appropriate methods and procedures, resources, and modern pharmacy-related computing tools with an understanding of the limitations.
  • Leadership skills: Understand and consider the human reaction to change, motivation issues, leadership, and team-building when planning changes required for the fulfillment of practice, and professional and societal responsibilities. Assume participatory roles as responsible citizens or leadership roles when appropriate to facilitate improvement in health and well-being.

  • Pharmaceutical Technical activities: Knowledge of the scientific information of the drugs, polymers, and various drug delivery systems helps recall and relate in developing new formulations.
  • Analyze and evaluate: Developing outcome challenges during the development of various academic experimental data helps in novel formulations, to construct and develop as per the needs of pharmaceutical industrial methods.
  • Biopharmaceutics PK-PD studies: Knowledge of pharmacokinetic problems and biopharmaceutics studies involving drug product equivalency, translate the high level of understanding of drug action into crucial stages in formulation research studies.
  • Multidisciplinary tasks: Developing the knowledge of the correlation between multi-disciplines during the curriculum will differentiate in applying and constructing the core knowledge and allied fields.
  • Fortification of new information: Build, access, and analyze the multiple designs of drugs from various pharmaceutical centers and ensure proper utilization of drugs and their adverse effects.
  • Pharmaceutical technical activities: Understand and relate the acquired scientific information and pharmaceutical principles of the effect of drugs including pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in the drug discovery process.
  • Evaluate and analyze: Generate, compile, and interpret data from pharmaceutical experiments about academics and research including drug discovery as per the needs of pharmaceutical industries.
  • Clinical studies: Participate in multistage interfaces of pharmacological experiments and translate a high level of understanding of drug action into crucial stages in preclinical and clinical research studies.
  • Multidisciplinary tasks: Demonstrate and apply knowledge and skills gained during the curriculum to undertake specialized research in the core and applied areas of pharmaceutical sciences. Develop an ability to recognize the need and work accordingly on multidisciplinary tasks in the pharmaceutical area and also in its allied fields.
  • Amendment of new information: Receive and validate current drug information in the delivery of pharmaceutical care and assure regarding proper usage of drugs and their adverse effects.

Course Overview

Pharmacology Practical-I – Involves the study of drugs, routes of drug administration, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacokinetics of the drugs. This subject caters to in-depth knowledge on handling various equipment and developing animal models for screening, the molecular and cellular mechanism of action, deficiency and excess release related endocrine disorders employed in drug discovery and development, and various targets for drug discovery. Understand different guidelines like CPCSEA, OECD, ICH, USFDA, Schedule Y guidelines, different methods of drug analysis by analytical instruments and ethical requirements for the usage of experimental animals.

Course Overview

Modern Pharmaceutical Analytical Techniques mainly focuses on the analytical instruments used for analysis of drugs by using U.V, I.R, Spectrofluorimetry, Flame Emission spectroscopy, Atomic Absorption spectroscopy, N.M.R, Mass, Chromatography, Electrophoresis, X-Ray crystallography, RIA and ELISA.

  • Compare and Utilize the Spectroscopy knowledge to Interpret various levels of molecular spectra.
  • Analyze instrumentation of N.M.R and compare 1D NMR, 2DNMR, 1HNMR, and 13CNMR to Propose structures
  • Assume the principle and importance, theory of mass, spectroscopy, and differentiate different peaks and ionization and fragmentation rules to predict the structure.
  • Compare different Chromatographic techniques and Evaluate instrumentation; choose each technique based on a sample and Develop a Validated method.
  • Justify different electrophoretic techniques, X-ray crystallography, and design with the Importance of Electrophoresis, X-ray crystallography, and Bioluminescence assays.

Course Overview

The course focuses on the cellular and molecular principles of pharmacology, in particular on the mechanisms involved in the interactions of pharmacological agents with cells, specific tissues and/or organs such as the cardiovascular or nervous systems or physio-pathological situations such as inflammation.

  • Explain various cellular events, functions, pathways and transduction mechanisms and how a gene is expressed.
  • Cell signaling pathways based on receptors and second messengers in the cell.
  • Principles and applications of genomic, proteomic tools, gene therapy and rDNA technology

  • Principles and applications of various assays, biosimilars, cell culture techniques, application of flow cytometry.

Course Overview

This course is designed to impart the knowledge on preclinical evaluation of drugs and recent experimental techniques in the drug discovery and development. The subject content helps the student to understand the maintenance of laboratory animals as per the guidelines, basic knowledge of various invitro and in-vivo preclinical evaluation processes.

  • Discuss different aspects like description, handling, production, maintenance and application of different common laboratory and transgenic animal models to be used in pharmacological as well as toxicological screening of drugs and new chemical entities
  • Explain preclinical screening of new substances in different animal as well as in in-vitro and other possible animal alternative models related to central and autonomic nervous system diseases like Parkinsonism, Alzheimers and multiple sclerosis.
  • Define and explain preclinical screening of new substances in different animal as well as in in-vitro and other possible animal alternative models related to respiratory, reproductive, inflammatory and digestive system diseases like asthma, COPD, infertility, inflammation, fever, ulcer, emesis and diarrhea.
  • Discuss the preclinical screening of new substances in different animal as well as well as in in-vitro and other possible animal alternative models related to cardiovascular, endocrine, immune and digestive system diseases like hypertension, arrhythmia, angina pectoris, atherosclerosis, diabetes, dyslipidemia, cancer and hepatotoxicity.
  • Define and explain preclinical screening of new substances like immunomodulators, immunosuppressants and immunostimulants by various immunoassays conducted in different animal as well as in in-vitro and other possible animal alternative models.
