M.Sc. in Forensic Science is a 2-year postgraduate programme which deals with applications of basic and advanced study subjects, such as chemistry, biology, physics, computer science, IT geology, psychology, social sciences, etc. to criminal investigations and judicial procedures. Forensic science plays a vital role in modern crime-solving, addressing the rise in complex criminal activities and the increasing reliance of courts on scientific evidence. After completion of this course, students may opt for various higher studies like PhD, which will improve their chances for better jobs.

AdtU Forensic Science postgraduates will be equipped for professional careers as forensic experts, consultants, and specialists in law enforcement, legal advisory, and private investigation.
Postgraduates will serve as forensic experts and educators, contributing to a secure, healthy, and vibrant society by raising public awareness of criminal strategies.
Postgraduates will be capable of integrating AI-based tools & techniques with modern forensic technologies for comprehensive evidence detection, analysis, and evaluation.

Forensic Knowledge: Apply advanced principles, theories, and cutting-edge practices of basic sciences to analyze and resolve forensic challenges for the advancement and efficiency of criminal investigation.
Problem Analysis & Solving: Identifying, analyzing, and solving intricate forensic problems using advanced critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and interdisciplinary approaches to draw precise and reliable conclusions.
Investigation and Research: Apply research competency to design hypotheses and experiments using modern tools and techniques, and analyse and interpret the data to arrive at logical conclusions in the area of forensic science.
Communication: Effectively communicate information among the scientific community and society and be able to prepare documents and reports, and deliver impactful presentations.
Professional Ethics: Comply to the highest ethical standards in all forensic practices, ensuring integrity, impartiality, and confidentiality while upholding legal, moral, and ethical guidelines in their professional conduct.
Environment and Sustainability: Understand and evaluate the environmental impact of forensic activities, striving to balance scientific goals with ecological preservation and sustainability.
Individual and Teamwork: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings to maintain highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Case management: Able to engage in lifelong learning and active engagement with the scientific and professional communities in the broadest context of scientific and technological advancement.

Experiential Learning: Integrate forensic science expertise for impactful and sustainable solutions for communities.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Design and develop innovative forensic tools, investigative kits, software, sensors, fingerprint powders, and other advanced solutions to address emerging challenges in the field.
Investigative Partnership: Collaborate with local investigating agencies applying forensic techniques to address crimes at the regional and local levels, contributing to effective investigations and justice in the community.

Common Scholarship Test

CST- Common scholarship test is a national and international level online MCQ based examination funded for intellectual empowerment by Assam down town University.

CST- Maximum enrolment each year is 269 seats and any 10+2 students can apply. Adtu is northeast India’s first placement driven university to provide 100% scholarship benefits worth 30 cr.

CST aims to inspire brilliant and competent students to pursue further education. Accredited with a prestigious grade by NAAC, UGC and AICTE.
