I feel extremely proud to see my University has grown up even another year. Assam down town University took birth in the year 2010 with a vision of quality participation in the education sector. Various job oriented professional and technical program offered by this University has created immense opportunities for the students of North Eastern region, out of which Pharmaceutical Science programs has attained increased attention. As an integral part of the University, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is functioning with a mission to generate young health professionals to meet further challenges and to prosper the values, culture and ethics in the society. Within a span of ten years of its existence, the Faculty has emerged as a fully grown technically and professionally cognizant academic centre. It has created a forte for itself in the academia and pioneer research plans are escalating the educational setup into the new frame. Students of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science are taken care of by a blend of qualified and experienced teachers. All the faculties are young, energetic and eager to do excellence in the field of Education and Research and this tireless venture in turn directly encourages the students. Infrastructures that are provided to the Faculty are valued by all the staff and are utilized prudentially for maximum benefits of the students. Besides the curriculum teaching, the Faculty is focused on practical aspects in projects, research and development, industrial training, workshops etc. for the overall development of the students. All the laboratories are equipped with relevant instruments and apparatuses. Apart from subject-wise laboratories, one separate air-conditioned instrument laboratory is truly an asset to the Faculty and is utilized for carrying out analytical and research work. Instrument laboratory is comprised of almost all the basic instruments as per regular academic curriculum and couple of very sophisticated modern instruments to support the advanced research activities. Language lab for the students equipped with 30 PC along with the access to the Internet is in use. Well maintained herbal garden comprising of more than 50 plants of medicinal values is indeed an asset to the Faculty. Besides the Central Library of the University, one Departmental Library within the Faculty allows easy and immediate access of reference books for the students. Separate hostel accommodations for boys and girls are provided where congenial and disciplined atmosphere are maintained by continuous supervision. I would like to thank, all the students, faculty and staff members of the Faulty for their sincere efforts and dedication which made our Faculty, The Best Faculty consecutively for three years (2011-2013). Despite the fact of recent scarcity in employments in various sectors, Pharmacy Graduates and Diploma holders are choosing their appropriate jobs out of many job opportunities offered to them by number of established employers. On one hand, our alumni are presently associated as responsible personnel in manufacturing, research and development, formulation and development and even in product promotion of many prestigious health sectors of India like Cipla, Emami, Eries Life Sciences to name a few while on the other hand, good number of students have opted for higher studies and have joined in PG programs of various academic institutions of repute in India beside us. I am confident that the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science of Assam down town University would continue to meet the academic requirements of this region and would enrich the society by providing B. Pharm graduates, D. Pharm holders and M. Pharm holders in near future as the Prime Healthcare Professional. I am in no doubt while assuring the new entrants that we are determined to give our society and entire health care sector the best in a perfect organized way.

The FPS, through its faculty members with compatible professional interests in Pharmacy and its assembled research strengths in manufacturing and clinical aspects of Pharmaceutical Science, are perfectly positioned to mould future pharmacy professionals in the field of clinical and allied healthcare and provide a platform for inter- disciplinary research and practice. Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, AdtU fosters a collegial and supportive environment where students thrive with research and scholarship thus stimulating a feeling of belongingness and pride in all the stakeholders.

FPS has well qualified and experienced Faculty Members, well-equipped laboratories, excellent library facility and sufficient industry exposure to prepare trained manpower in the field of pharmacy. Many of our research scholars have completed research work in collaboration with DRDO, Tezpur. The Department focuses on overall personality development and research exposure. We are committed to provide value-based education through competitive intelligence with well-defined discipline. The department has also received DBT project of Rs. 65,28,000. Assam down town University (AdtU) has also international collaboration with South-East Asian countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia where faculty exchange program, student exchange program and Research work take place.

The profession of pharmacy has developed a lot in terms of multidimensional job opportunities FPS, AdtU is the right destination for students with career aspirations in the field of pharmacy.
