The HNDB Central Library (Hari Narayan Dutta Baruah Central Library), Assam down town University was established in the year 2010 with the main motto of fulfilling the essential knowledge needs of the students, faculties, and research scholars and staff of the university. HNDB Central Library functions with great precision and dedication to promote academic excellence.
The HNDB Central Library is located in the “K Block”.
Library Timing: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
10.00 AM to 12.00 PM on University holidays and Sundays

The mission of the library is to preserve and disseminate knowledge amongst the users. HNDB Central Library works as a knowledge hub for the scholarly community.
The HNDB Central Library is located in the “K Block” which lies near the swimming pool and the temple area in the university campus. The Library is spread over three floors of the building.
A significant storehouse of information and research tools, our HNDB Central Library is home to an impressive collection of accomplishments, including Publications, PhD Thesis, Dissertation, and a wide range of Books.
The HNDB Central Library features an extensive array of specialized collections catering to diverse interests. The Competitive Section offers vital resources for exam preparation, while the Mythology Section preserves ancient religious texts like the Vedas and the Quran. The Children Section fosters a love for reading among young readers, and the Music Section serves as a haven for music enthusiasts and researchers. The Banga-Bandhu Section, a gift from Bangladesh, includes international books and photographs. The Hari Narayan Dutta Baruah Section houses works by the celebrated author. The library also offers a vast collection of Sanskrit texts, the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay collections, and over 100 rare books spanning various subjects. Unique collections feature local historical artifacts and vintage records. The Manuscript Section contains digitized Chitra Bhagawata and traditional manuscripts. The Braille Section supports visually impaired readers, while the Alumni Section fosters lifelong learning and camaraderie among alumni.
PRAN is an institutional library management software (ILMS) of Assam down town University. It streamlines library operations, encompassing cataloging, circulation, acquisition, and serial management, ensuring efficient and organized library workflows. The software integrates user-friendly interfaces and robust search functionalities, allowing users to easily access and manage a vast collection of academic resources. By leveraging modern technology, PRAN significantly enhances the overall library experience, facilitating improved resource management and accessibility for the university's academic community.
