Assam down town University has undertaken diverse research projects spanning various fields. Notable projects include a study on the nutritional and aromatic properties of Joha and black rice varieties, an investigation into anti-diabetic compounds in North Eastern banana varieties, and the development of a portable friction stir welding machine. Additionally, research has been conducted on genotoxicity of food preservatives, linguistic communication apps, and the genetic diversity of local fish species. Furthermore, numerous studies are underway on subjects such as plant extracts, health markers, and innovative food products, with a focus on various aspects of science and technology. The University's faculty members are actively engaged in research across multiple domains, including engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, commerce, management, humanities, and more. Read more about usIn our CIF lab, we have a range of instruments for research on herbal plants. This includes the Soxhlet apparatus, rotary evaporator, and lyophilizer for extraction and drying of extracts. We also have electrophoresis tanks, SDS page, and a thermal cycler (PCR) for molecular biology studies. Our lab is equipped with an E-gel imager and transilluminator for viewing isolated products. DNA and RNA isolation are done using kits or manual methods, and we have a cooling centrifuge and hot water bath for various procedures. For biochemical estimation, we have an auto-analyzer and spectrometer. Microbiology research is facilitated by an autoclave, incubator, and orbital shaker. Additionally, we have basic equipment like freezers, water units, weighing balance, ultrasonic bath, vortex shaker, magnetic stirrer, and microwave. Notably, our lab has conducted research on phytochemical extraction, nanoparticle synthesis, and antimicrobial testing, resulting in publications and conference presentations.

Notably, an MoU was signed with the North Eastern Tea Association for a three-year partnership in tea research, student and faculty engagement, and tea-related event organization. AdtU also engaged with Innotech Agropostikam Pvt Ltd, North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Ltd, and Ram Electronics and Equipment for research and innovation in diverse areas like agriculture and battery-operated vehicles. Collaborations with Guwahati Biotech Park, CSIR-North Eastern Institute of Science & Technology (NEIST), Rotary Club of Guwahati, North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, and the Institute of Advanced Study in Science & Technology aimed to foster research, training, and mutual growth across various fields.
