Invited Talk and Hands-on Training on Natural Farming and Biopesticide Application Engages 123 Agriculture Students, Promoting Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Farming Practices

Assam down town University organized an invited talk on “Natural Farming and Biological Control & Hands-on Training in Application of Biopesticides,” conducted by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences & Technology. 

The program began with an inaugural address by Dr. Khem Bahadur Pun, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, who warmly welcomed the resource person Dr. Gunadhya Kumar Upamanya, Associate Professor, Plant Pathology, Sarat Singha College of Agriculture, Dhubri, along with the gathering. In his opening remarks, Dr. Pun emphasized the relevance of the topic in bridging academic learning with advanced research and field-level extension, encouraging students to explore sustainable agricultural practices.

Continuing the session, Dr. Robin Gogoi, Professor and OSD, Faculty of Science, introduced the guest speaker and expressed pride in his accomplishments, highlighting Dr. Upamanya’s extensive journey in teaching, research, and agricultural extension across different regions of Assam and internationally in Ethiopia.

During the session, Dr. Upamanya elaborated on the preparation methods of various components used in natural farming and biopesticides, explaining their benefits and role in promoting sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture. He also conducted a hands-on training session, demonstrating the practical application of different biopesticides.

A total of 123 students from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences & Technology attended the programme and actively participated in the interactive session, making the event both informative and engaging for the aspiring agricultural professionals.
