









Assam down town University commenced Day 1 of the Reflective Teaching Practice: An Intensive Faculty Development Program with the theme “Reflective Practice and Building Effective Teacher–Student Relationships.” Organized by the Centre for Language Proficiency and Professional Development (CLPPD), Assam down town University, the program aimed at strengthening teachers’ self-awareness while reinforcing humanistic approaches to effective pedagogy inspired by International Communicative Language Teaching principles.
The sessions were led by Dr. Adnan Khan, CLPPD, Assam down town University, equipping teachers with reflective tools and actionable strategies to foster psychologically safe, empathetic learning environments that go beyond content delivery and support meaningful student engagement.
Participants examined their strengths, areas for growth, and the influence of personal teaching approaches on student engagement. The day further focused on building trust and rapport in the classroom through Carl Rogers’ core principles of congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathic understanding, translating theory into practical classroom behaviors.
The sessions guided educators through structured reflective practices, including guided introspection and snapshot activities, encouraging them to explore their teaching identities, styles, and classroom presence.
