Assam down town University marked a significant milestone on 12 August 2025 with the launch of its Online Education initiative.
The event commenced with a formal lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the university’s mission to make quality education accessible beyond traditional boundaries.
Prof. (Dr.) N. C. Talukdar, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of AdtU inaugurated the event, highlighting the growing importance of online education in today’s rapidly evolving technological and societal landscape. He emphasized that this initiative would empower learners from diverse geographies with flexible, affordable, and high-quality academic opportunities.
Dr. Mahendra Modi, Executive Dean – Academics, addressed the gathering and reiterated AdtU’s commitment to maintaining academic excellence in the online space. He underscored that curriculum design, program delivery, and learning outcomes would match the standards of the university’s on-campus offerings, while integrating industry-relevant skills to enhance employability for online learners.
The keynote address by Dr. Mala Dutta, Director – Centre for Distance and Online Education, outlined the vision, program portfolio, and technological infrastructure supporting the initiative. She elaborated on the use of advanced learning management systems, interactive content, and dedicated student support services to deliver engaging and effective learning experiences.
The program concluded with an interactive discussion among faculty members and attendees, exploring the transformative potential of online education in expanding higher learning opportunities and reaching underserved communities.
