Utpal Datta Honored with Amulya Manna Photography Award 2025 for Excellence

Assam down town university is delighted to congratulate Utpal Datta our esteemed Professor of Practice, on being honored with the prestigious Amulya Manna Photography Award 2025.

This award recognizes his remarkable journey of brilliance in photography, film direction, and film criticism, celebrating his exceptional contributions to the art of visual storytelling. Starting his remarkable journey in 1975, Utpal Datta has made an impact on the creative world with his exceptional contributions. Datta’s artistic skills extended to cinema, where he served as a still cinematographer for Bhabendra Nath Saikia’s acclaimed films Kolahal and Sarathi, with his stunning visuals becoming iconic film posters. His work on Priyajan and Baroshi further solidified his reputation as a master craftsman. Since 2009, the annual Utpal-Dhanjit Calendar has showcased his evocative photography, earning widespread national acclaim and appreciation.

As he joins the esteemed ranks of honorees like Nalini Baruah, Mahendra Baruah, and Suman Duwara, this recognition highlights his visionary talent and dedication.
