Anti-Ragging Day Observed at Assam down town University
In alignment with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Assam down town University observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2025 to raise awareness against ragging in educational institutions. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 200 students across various faculties.
Lt. (Dr.) Sangita Boro, Member Secretary of the Anti-Ragging Committee, addressed the gathering and provided valuable insights into the different forms of ragging, their serious consequences, and the stringent actions taken by the university against any such misconduct. She also elaborated on the formal procedure for lodging complaints, reaffirming the university's unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
As part of the program, students viewed a thought-provoking documentary that emphasized the harmful impact of ragging and underscored the importance of preventive measures. The event concluded with an interactive session at the Anti-Ragging themed selfie stand, where students captured and shared their support for a ragging-free campus.
The observance of Anti-Ragging Day successfully reinforced Assam down town University’s zero-tolerance policytowards ragging and encouraged students to be vigilant, proactive, and responsible members of the university community.
