Successful Conclusion of the 7th North East Patient Safety Workshop!

The 7th North East Patient Safety Workshop, organized by down town hospital at the Assam down town University campus, concluded successfully after two days of engaging discussions, interactive sessions, and hands-on training focused on enhancing patient safety in healthcare, with over 430 delegates, including prominent healthcare professionals and experts from across the North Eastern region as well as Bhutan and Nepal.

The Pre-Conference, held on 6th December, emphasized practical learning through interactive sessions and hands-on workshops. The day commenced with a session on Sepsis Awareness: Protocols to Save Lives, coordinated by Ms. Mary Anthony, followed by a dynamic session on Mock Drills for Critical Care Teams led by Ms. Judith Ramengmawi. Participants also gained valuable insights from Dr. Saikat Sen on Pharmacovigilance and ADR Reporting, underscoring the importance of monitoring adverse drug reactions. Expert-led workshops on Advanced Airway Management Techniques, Basic Life Support Skills, and Ergonomics for Patient Safety, conducted by professionals like Dr. Dhruba Baishya and Dr. Abhijit Dutta, further enriched the attendees’ knowledge of safety practices in clinical settings.

The Main Conference, held on 7th December, began with a warm Welcome Address by Ms. Mayurakshi Dutta, Executive Director of down town hospital, followed by an inspiring session on Introduction to Patient Safety Culture by Dr. Alexander Thomas, Founder of AHPI. The keynote address by Dr.Girdhar Gyani, Director General of AHPI, provided actionable strategies to promote patient safety. A critical session on Communication and Patient Safety by Ms. Mary Anthony highlighted the role of effective communication in fostering a safety culture.

This workshop provided a vital platform for healthcare professionals to exchange ideas, share experiences, and reaffirm their commitment to improving patient safety standards.
