Dr. Suraksha S Diwan is a Scientist ‘F’ and Associate Head of the North Eastern Region (NER) Division at the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India. Holding a PhD in Bio-Medical Sciences (malaria vaccine) from ICGEB, she joined the DBT in 2010.
Her extensive career includes managing major national initiatives like the Biotechnology Industry Partnership Programme (BIPP) and activities of BIRAC, supporting 150 industries. She spearheaded the BioCare program, empowering over 400 Women Scientists.
Internationally, she managed the Indo-Australian Biotechnology Fund (IABF) and numerous global fellowships (e.g., DBT-TWAS, Cambridge, USA partnerships), supporting 135 fellows from developing countries and launching the "Indo-Australian Career Boosting Gold fellowships."
Dr. Diwan also oversaw the Stem Cell Research and Women & Child Health Programme and managed Autonomous Institutes (NIPGR, NBRC). Currently, as Associate Head of the NER Division, she has nurtured over 1200 R&D and capacity building projects in the North Eastern Region of India.
