Assam down town University’s NSS Units organized an engaging and impactful Orientation Programme for newly joined NSS volunteers, marking an important event in fostering a sense of social responsibility and volunteerism among students.
The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Omar Faruk from the Directorate of Sports and Welfare, Government of Assam, who was invited as the Chief Guest. The event commenced with the traditional NSS song, setting a tone of unity and commitment to the service of society.
Mr. Faruk, Chief Guest, gave a motivational and thought-provoking keynote message, encouraging the new volunteers to embrace the spirit of selfless service. He went into great length about the critical role that NSS volunteers play in societal development, emphasizing that their contributions go far beyond simply participating in events; they are agents of positive change in their communities. Furthermore, Mr. Faruk urged NSS authorities to take aggressive steps toward establishing new NSS units within the university, emphasizing the importance of expanded student involvement in social service activities. By expanding the reach of NSS, he explained, a larger number of students could experience the transformative impact of contributing to the well-being of society, ultimately helping to build a more compassionate and aware generation of young leaders. Senior volunteers also played a key role in welcoming the newly joined members into the NSS family, sharing their own experiences and insights to inspire their juniors.
The Orientation Programme provided an introduction to NSS, also a compelling reminder of the value of community service and the role that young people can play in advancing social change.
