AdtU Faculty of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Marks World Physiotherapy Day with Competitions, Expert Talks, and Cultural Festivities

Faculty of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (FPAR) at Assam down town University celebrates World Physiotherapy Day to emphasize the importance of physiotherapy in health and wellness.

The day began with Poster and Rangoli competitions, where students from various semesters showcased their creativity. The posters focused on the theme "Low Back Pain and the Role of Physiotherapy in its Management and Prevention." Winners of both competitions were awarded certificates and prizes, recognizing their innovative ideas and artistic expressions.

The formal event started with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the University anthem. Dr. Abhijit Kalita, Associate Dean (i/c) of FPAR, delivered a welcome speech, and the event was honored by the presence of esteemed guests, including Dr. Abhijit Dutta, Dean of the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, along with other university officials.

A scientific session on low back pain was the highlight of the event. Dr. Nilav Jyoti Choudhary, a renowned orthopedician, was the special guest who enlightened the audience on the management of mechanical and neurological low back pain. Additionally, Dr. Abhijit Kalita (PT) delivered an insightful talk on Ergonomics and Good Posture, underscoring the significance of physiotherapy in preventing back pain.

The celebration continued with a lively cultural event featuring traditional dances and modern music performances, fostering a sense of community and joy among the participants. The event’s success was also attributed to the dedicated student volunteers who assisted with registration, guided attendees, and ensured that all activities ran smoothly.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Trishna Saikia Baruah (PT), acknowledging the hard work of the faculty members, student volunteers, and participants. World Physiotherapy Day 2024 was a meaningful and successful occasion, bringing together students, professionals, and the community to celebrate the vital role of physiotherapy in improving the quality of life.
