Assam down town University celebrated World Tourism Day under the theme “Tourism and Peace.”
The program featured an enlightening speech by Prijoy Pegu, a 5th-semester student of BHMCT, who highlighted the immense potential of the tourism industry in Northeast India. He explored hidden gems across the region and shared strategies for developing these destinations to boost local tourism.
Dr.Bhola Chourasia, Head of the Hospitality and Tourism Department, emphasized the critical role of tourism in fostering peace and enhancing local economies. His words inspired attendees to take an active role in promoting tourism as a driver for positive change.
The cultural program that followed mesmerized the audience. Kesar Chetry opened with a classical dance performance, laying the groundwork for an insightful skit with the theme of "A journey can be a reason to spread peace." Arzo then performed a stunning solo dance, while Shree Kumar invigorated the audience with a spectacular rap performance that highlighted our university's strong cultural variety.
The event closed with an uplifting vote of appreciation from Dr. Santosh Kumar Upadhyay, who emphasized the tourism industry's growth and importance in creating job possibilities. His remarks struck a strong chord with the crowd and reaffirmed how crucial tourism is to the advancement of society.
