Assam down town University celebrates International Day of Happiness with Joy and Connection!

Under the guidance of Dr. Prateeti Barman (she/her), Dean (I/C) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and initiated by Dr. Manjusha Saikia, Associate Professor, Programme of Psychology, Assam down town University celebrated the International Day of Happiness with enthusiasm and warmth.

This year’s theme, “Caring and Sharing,” highlighted the importance of collective joy and emotional connection. As part of the initiative, psychology students set up interactive sticky-note boards in the central campus area, inviting students, faculty, and visitors to share "one thing that made them happy." The response was overwhelming, with colorful notes capturing simple yet heartfelt moments like a stranger’s smile, a cup of tea, or the warmth of sunshine.

The event created a ripple of positivity, sparking conversations about emotional well-being. To spread even more cheer, handmade bookmarks with positive affirmations were distributed alongside sweet treats, adding a thoughtful touch to the celebration. This small yet meaningful gesture reinforced the idea that happiness often lies in the little things.

Beyond celebrating joy, the initiative also served as a subtle awareness campaign on mental health and well-being. Many participants appreciated the effort, with some even sharing personal stories of gratitude. It was heartwarming to witness how a simple activity transformed into a wall of shared joy.
