A group of 26 master's students from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science at Assam down town University had the opportunity to visit the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Guwahati.
This visit, part of the Social Scientific Responsibility (SSR) activities of NIPER-G, was designed to offer students real-world exposure and educational insights into state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facilities.
The day began with an introductory session covering a range of topics including biotechnological products, generic and synthetic medicines, and biological drugs. This interactive discussion provided valuable insights into the future perspectives of biotechnology and potential career opportunities in the field. Students then toured the Central Instrumental Facility (CIF), where they encountered a variety of advanced instruments such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), as well as cutting-edge technologies like biodesign and 3D biofabrication. Following this, the group visited the Pharmaceutics Laboratory, where researchers demonstrated numerous essential tools used in pharmaceutical research. Students gained hands-on experience with equipment including ball mills, rheometers, rotary evaporators, cooling centrifuges, zetasizers, sonicators, microfluidizers, ultracentrifuges, double beam UV spectrometers, and nano-fiber electrospinning units. Overall, the tour offered students a valuable exposure to advanced research techniques and technologies in the field of Pharmaceutical Science.
