HNDB Central Library, Assam Downtown University celebrated 132nd National Librarians’ Day in the honor of Padmashree Dr. S. R. Ranganathan on his birth anniversary and  encouraged the students by delivering lectures on his contribution towards the Knowledge society as well as for the field Library and Information Science.

The event was inaugurated with the University Anthem. Hon’ble Chancellor, Assam down town University heartily welcome all the dignitaries to the event followed by few tribute lines for Late Padmashree S. R. Ranganathan and purpose of the event from Dr. Rubi Goswami. Lamp lighting by honorable chancellor sir, hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, chief speaker, chief guest, honorable Pro Vice Chancellor Sir, hon’ble Dean of Studies madam, and other dignitaries. After the lamp lighting, The main speaker Dr. Pori Hiloidari was felicitated by hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University, and the chief guest Dr. Swapna Dutta Deka was felicitated by hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pranveer Singh.

The invited speaker delivered his lecture on the topic: “Role of Libraries in Society and Education” covering all the aspects and the chief guest Dr. Swapna Dutta Deka also delivered Library’s contributions towards the society. The programme was ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Utpal Dutta, Professor of Practice, AdtU.
