7th Ayodhana International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament concludes at Assam down town University with grand success.
Organized by the Chess Players’ Parents Association and recognized by the All India Chess Federation, World Chess Federation (FIDE), and All Assam Chess Association, the tournament witnessed the participation of 340 players from across the country. In addition to local talents from Assam, participants came from states including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and more, making it a truly pan-India event.
The top honours went to Abhishek T M from Kerala, who secured the 1st prize with a FIDE rating of 2048 and received a cash award of Rs.70,000. The 2nd and 3rd prizes were claimed by Karan J P (Kerala) and Pradeep Tiwari, with ratings of 2045 and 1971, winning Rs.50,000 and Rs.30,000 respectively. Other notable winners included Abhijith U (Kerala), Rupam Mukherjee (West Bengal), and Assam’s very own Mrinmoy Rajkhowa, Abhirup Saikia, and Tanmoy Rajbongshi.
The final ceremony was graced by Ms. Gariasi Dutta, Resident Trustee of Assam down town University, alongside special guests such as actor Shashank Samir and mountaineer Tarun Saikia. Officials from Assam down town University, who played a crucial role in supporting the event, were felicitated during the closing ceremony.
The tournament concluded on a high note with the distribution of awards and recognition of the exceptional talent showcased throughout the competition.
