As part of the National Nutrition Month celebration, the Programme of Food Nutrition and Dietetics at Assam down town University successfully organized a comprehensive two-day event on the 19th and 20th of September.
The event was designed to raise awareness about the critical role of nutrition in health and well-being while offering practical knowledge on balanced diets and national nutrition programs.
The event on 19th September began with an inauguration ceremony led by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Manash Sarma. In his opening remarks, the Dean highlighted the increasing importance of nutrition in today’s fast-paced world, where unhealthy eating habits and lifestyle diseases are on the rise.
One of the key highlights of the event was the “Earn While You Learn” initiative, where students applied their theoretical knowledge by setting up stalls featuring a variety of healthy, delicious food products such as whole wheat chicken-stuffed sandwiches, traditional home-cooked platters, salads, desserts, and refreshing drinks, all focused on balanced nutrition. The event also featured a "Nutri Game Box," an interactive and fun activity that engaged attendees in learning about nutrition through games.
Another major attraction was an exhibit showcasing healthy lunch boxes for college students, offering practical solutions for creating balanced, nutritious meals. The display, supported by informative pamphlets and 3D models of “My Plate for the Day,” helped attendees visualize what a well-balanced meal looks like, aligning with the event’s goal of making nutrition education both practical and accessible for everyday life. Among the innovative displays was the “Tree of Nutrition,” which creatively illustrated various nutrients, food groups, and health tips.
