Overview

The Directorate of International Affairs at Assam down town University (AdtU) plays a pivotal role in fostering global collaboration and expanding international opportunities for students and faculty. Since its establishment in 2010, and with a significant push towards global engagement in 2020, AdtU has built strong partnerships and signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with over 50 prestigious foreign universities, facilitating cross-disciplinary collaborations that include faculty and student exchanges, cultural programs, joint research projects, and seminars. The Directorate is dedicated to promoting internationalization by encouraging academics and staff to participate in these global endeavors, ensuring a comprehensive international education. Through initiatives like faculty and administrative exchanges, immersive student programs, and events such as the Global Leadership Summit and Diplomatic Insights Series, AdtU integrates international perspectives into its curriculum, involving global experts in program development to maintain high academic standards and relevance. This commitment to global engagement fosters a vibrant international environment, preparing the university community for growth and success in an increasingly interconnected world.

Faculty Exchange Program

The Faculty Exchange Program aims to foster cultural exchange and academic collaboration by inviting faculty from partner universities to participate in both short-term and long-term exchanges. The Short Term Faculty Exchange Program (STFEP) involves a week-long exchange where visiting faculty engage in workshops, seminars, and cultural activities to promote cross-cultural understanding. Meanwhile, the Long Term Faculty Exchange Program (LTFEP) offers faculty members the opportunity to teach at Assam down town University for a semester, with provisions for food and accommodation, thereby facilitating deeper knowledge exchange and enriching cross-cultural learning experiences.

Admin Exchange Program

The Administrative Exchange Program offers administrative staff the opportunity to work at partnering institutions, promoting collaboration and professional development. Through this program, participants gain valuable insights into diverse administrative practices, enhance their skills, and expand their global networks. The program is designed to improve operational efficiency while enriching the professional experiences of the staff involved.

Student Exchange Program

The Student Exchange Program is designed to foster cultural exchange and academic collaboration by welcoming students from partner universities for both short-term and semester-long experiences. The Short Term Student Exchange Program (STSEP) invites students to participate in a week-long immersion, featuring workshops, seminars, and cultural activities that promote cross-cultural understanding. The Semester Exchange Program (SEP), on the other hand, allows students to study at Assam down town University for a full semester, enriching their academic and cultural experiences while contributing to the diversity and global perspectives on campus.

International Learning Pathways (ILP) – Study Abroad

This specialized postgraduate program is meticulously designed in collaboration with leading international universities, focusing on a specific field of study to deliver a comprehensive and globally competitive education. The program offers the unique opportunity for students to earn joint degrees or certifications, ensuring that their qualifications are recognized and respected worldwide. Cultural Immersion Program / Educational Immersion Programs (EIP)

This program is designed to provide international students with a comprehensive immersion in local culture, featuring language classes, cultural workshops, and visits to historical sites to enhance their understanding of Assam and Indian culture. The Educational Immersion Programs are specifically tailored to academic disciplines, offering intensive hands-on experiences, research opportunities, and industry collaborations. For example, an immersion program in environmental studies may include fieldwork, internships, and projects with local organizations, enabling students to gain in-depth knowledge and practical experience in their field of study.

Global Leadership Summit (GLS)

Visiting Faculty

Virtual Exchange Programs (VEP)

The Virtual Exchange Programs (VEP) are designed to facilitate international collaboration and learning through online platforms, enabling students and faculty to engage in cross-border educational experiences without the need for physical travel. These programs offer a range of opportunities, including online courses, joint research projects, and collaborative assignments with partner universities around the world. By leveraging digital technology, VEP allows participants to access diverse perspectives, expertise, and academic resources from global institutions. This initiative not only broadens the scope of education but also promotes cultural exchange and global understanding, all while overcoming the barriers of distance and cost associated with traditional exchange programs.

Diplomatic Insights Series

The Diplomat Meet Series is an engaging initiative that invites ambassadors and diplomats from various countries to visit the university, providing students with valuable insights into international relations, cultural diplomacy, and global affairs. These distinguished guests participate in a range of activities, including lectures, interactive discussions, and specialized workshops focused on current global issues and diplomatic practices. This event serves as a platform for fostering meaningful dialogues on pressing international topics, offering students and faculty the opportunity to engage directly with high-profile diplomats. Enhancing Program Development and Curriculum Review through International Academic Expertise

Incorporating members from international academia into the Board of Studies(BoS) enhances the program development, curriculum review, and academic quality assurance processes. This board comprises esteemed scholars and experts from various global institutions, bringing diverse perspectives and cutting-edge expertise to the table. Their involvement ensures that the academic programs not only align with international standards but also integrate global best practices and emerging trends. By leveraging their insights, the BoS contributes to the continuous improvement of the curriculum, fosters innovation in program offerings, and upholds the highest standards of academic excellence, thereby preparing students for a competitive global landscape.

Semester Abroad Programme

Aspiring students will get the opportunity to pursue one semester of their respective curriculum at any other University of their choice. Preferred University may be chosen by the student from the list of universities having MOU with AdtU. Students of AdtU who meet the eligibility criteria will have to apply to the AdtU DIA to process their applications, recommended and forwarded by the Dean of concern Faculty of Studies. Similarly, students of other Universities will also have to apply to the AdtU DIA through the competent authority of their respective University for processing their submission.

University Transfer

AdtU will analyze the similarity quotient of the courses of the respective program the applicant belongs to. Upon obtaining considerable data of course mapping, the applicant may be allowed to undergo University Transfer provided the other prerequisites are met the applicant.
