The HNDB Central Library (Hari Narayan Dutta Baruah Central Library) at Assam down town University was established in 2010 with the primary goal of fulfilling the knowledge needs of students, faculty, research scholars, and staff. Dedicated to promoting academic excellence, the HNDB Central Library operates with great precision and commitment. Located in the “K Block” near the swimming pool and temple area on campus, the library spans three floors.
Named after the renowned writer and publisher Sahityaratna late Hari Narayan Dutta Baruah, the library was founded in 2010. It houses 86 collections related to and authored by Baruah, a notable figure in Assamese literature and Vaishnavite culture. He was honored with the title “Sahitya Ratna” by the Assam Sahitya Sabha and authored several influential works, including “Prachin Kamrupar Kayastha Samazor Itibritta (1941)” and “Chitra Darshan (1431).”
In addition to the HNDB Central Library, each Faculty of Studies at Assam down town University has its own dedicated library. These specialized libraries cater specifically to the academic needs of their respective disciplines, providing students and faculty with comprehensive resources and materials for research and study. This decentralized library system enhances accessibility and supports focused learning across various fields of study within the university.
