Assam down town University, through its AdtU Alumni Association in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), successfully organized an inspiring Alumni Interaction Programme.
The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Prateeti Barman (she/her), Honourable Dean (i/c), FHSS, and Dr. Samannoy Baruah, Director (i/c), Directorate of Alumni Affairs. They formally felicitated the invited guest, Ms. Pankhi Rani Borah, with a traditional Fulaam Gamusa and a memento, respectively, adding a touch of heartfelt tradition and respect.
In her address, Dr. Prateeti Barman warmly recalled her association with Ms. Borah, appreciating her academic achievements and ongoing research pursuits. Dr. Samannoy Baruah also highlighted the significance of alumni interactions in motivating and guiding current students.
During her interaction, Ms. Pankhi Rani Borah candidly shared her inspiring journey, her initial aspiration to become a doctor, her career in nursing, and her courageous shift towards her true passion, Psychology. She spoke about her challenges, the lack of support during her transition, and her dedication that led her to qualify NET (2024) and GATE (2025).
She also shared about her current role as a Research Field Investigator under an ICSSR-funded project titled "Prevalence Estimation and Assessment of Various Risk Factors Influencing Alcohol Use Behaviour Among University Students of Assam: A Holistic Approach Using Machine Learning Techniques." Her research aims to assist early identification and intervention regarding alcohol use among postgraduate students using machine learning techniques.
In addition, she highlighted the expanding scope of Psychology in various sectors, her enriching experiences with NGOs supporting elderly and children, and her ongoing counseling sessions for cancer patients.
