Assam down town University, through the Directorate of Career Advancement in collaboration with the Faculty of Physiotherapy, successfully organised a Corporate Guest Lecture on “Career Prospects in Physiotherapy”.

The program began with a warm welcome and felicitation of the resource person by Dr. Abhijit Kalita (PT), Associate Dean (I/c), Faculty of Physiotherapy. The session was delivered by Dr. Poonam Kumari (PT), Senior Physiotherapist, Get Active Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre, Guwahati, who shared valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities and emerging professional avenues in physiotherapy.

The lecture highlighted the growing scope of physiotherapy across hospitals, rehabilitation centres, sports and fitness, neurological and orthopaedic care, geriatric services, corporate wellness, private practice, and other healthcare settings. The speaker also emphasised the importance of clinical competence, communication, patient-centred care, professional ethics, teamwork, adaptability, continuous learning, and evidence-based practice in building a successful career.

The practical experiences and industry perspectives shared by the speaker helped students gain a clearer understanding of the profession and the skills required to transition from academic learning to professional practice.

The session concluded on an inspiring note, strengthening industry-academia interaction, career awareness, employability, and professional development among students. It encouraged aspiring physiotherapists to explore diverse career pathways, continuously enhance their competencies, and stay adaptable to the evolving healthcare industry
