Corporate Guest Lecture Explores Addiction, Behavioural Changes and the Kripa Model of Recovery

Assam down town University hosted an insightful Corporate Guest Lecture on “Addiction, Behavioural Changes and the Kripa Model of Recovery”, organised by the Directorate of Career Advancement in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The program began with a warm welcome and felicitation of Dr. Aditya Bhatta, Associate Dean & Associate Professor, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The session was led by Mr. Diganta Baruah, Director, Kripa Foundation, Guwahati, who offered valuable insights into the complex nature of addiction, its impact on behaviour, the recovery journey and the Kripa Model of Recovery.

Through an engaging and practical discussion, Mr. Baruah highlighted the importance of empathy, effective communication, emotional well-being, social support, professional ethics and a holistic approach to rehabilitation. Students actively participated in the session, raising thoughtful questions and engaging in meaningful discussions that helped them better understand substance abuse, behavioural changes and the role of professionals in supporting individuals and communities affected by addiction.

The session concluded on an inspiring note, strengthening industry-academia engagement while contributing to students’ professional development, social awareness and career readiness.
