BMPSW is a 4-year, 8-semester, 184-credit undergraduate programme that builds a foundation in social work theory and practice and progressively specialises into medical and psychiatric social work. Semesters 1-2 lay the groundwork with Introduction to Social Work, Psychology for Social Work Practice, Social Sciences & Health, Theories & Perspectives in Social Work, Human Growth & Development, and foundational fieldwork in NGO/community settings. Semesters 3-4 introduce Medical & Clinical Social Work, Casework, Counselling, Social Work Research Methods, Introduction to Mental Health Disorders, Advanced Counselling, Clinical Social Work Practice, Health Policy & Legislation, and clinical-setting fieldwork. Semesters 5-6 deepen clinical and community competence through Psychosocial & Therapeutic Interventions, Public Health Social Work, Community Health Interventions, Social Security Schemes, Health Advocacy, a research project, Health Programme Management, Hospital & Health Systems Administration, and Advanced Therapeutic Interventions, alongside government-systems and industry/CSR fieldwork. Semesters 7-8 focus on specialised and clinical fieldwork, Psychiatric Social Work, Professional Ethics & Leadership, a Research Dissertation, and a substantial Block Fieldwork/Internship (600 hours).
