Assam down town University, in collaboration with Sanskritik Mahasabha, Assam, organised a Lecture Demonstration on Borgeet, organised by the Programme of Performing Arts, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The program featured Padmabhusan Nrityacharya Jatin Goswami as the distinguished speaker, who delivered an insightful lecture on the Sattriya tradition and Borgeet, highlighting their rich cultural significance, history, and artistic heritage. The program was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Chancellor N. N. Dutta, Dean of Studies, Prof. Bandana Dutta, Vice Chancellor N. C. Talukdar. Also, Dr. Balendra Kumar Das, former Pro Vice Chancellor of USTM, was present as a distinguished guest.
The program commenced with a soulful rendition of Borgeet by the students of the Programme of Performing Arts, followed by a captivating Borgeet performance by renowned artist Pankaj Baruah. The enriching session offered students and participants an opportunity to experience and understand the rich traditions of Sattriya culture and Borgeet through a meaningful blend of scholarly insight and live performance.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Pankhi Kashyap, Assistant Professor, Programme of Performing Arts, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, artists, students, faculty members, and collaborators for their valuable contributions towards the successful conduct of the program.
