The Directorate of Innovation, Startup & Acceleration (DISA) at Assam down town University is dedicated to fostering a dynamic ecosystem for innovation entrepreneurship, and business growth. An independent Technology Business Incubator (TBI) called the down town Venture Labs foundation operates under the auspices of DISA. Registered as a section 8 company, down town Venture Labs foundation provides a supportive environment for early-stage startups, offering a range of services including mentorship, funding, and access to state-of-the-art facilities. The incubator is dedicated to nurturing innovative ideas and helping startups scale their operations to achieve commercial success.
An independent Technology Business Incubator (TBI) called the down town Venture Labs foundation Assam down town University boasts a fully functioning Institution Innovation Council (IIC) that promotes a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship on campus and beyond. The IIC, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sunandan Baruah, achieved a remarkable rating of 3.5 stars for the academic year 2021-22, making it one of the highest performing private institutions in the Northeast region. Over the past few years, in coordination with the incubation center dtVL, the council has organized numerous idea/startup pitching sessions, ideathons, hackathons, capacity-building workshops on innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual property rights (IPR) and various training sessions on prototyping, idea validation, design thinking and business model/revenue model etc. The IIC has also facilitated interactions with young entrepreneurs and investors from the local and national startup communities. Furthermore, the IIC established a Student Innovation Fund with a substantial corpus to financially support aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs at the University.
Assam down town University has established a student-led and student-managed E-Cell to foster innovation and entrepreneurship through hands-on learning. This E-Cell is driven by a dedicated team of students who take on various roles within the organization. The E-Cell aims to nurture a culture of innovation and support the creation of innovation-driven business enterprises within the student community at AdtU and beyond, in collaboration with the down town Venture Labs foundation and the University.
