The term alumnus respectively alumna has its origin in the Latin language. It means "pupil", literally "the nurtured”. Today, the term alumnae/alumni refer to the graduates of a university or a similar educational institution. However, when actually used, the meaning of the term depends on the thematic context and the individual point of view. In a narrow sense, it may refer to graduates of a university. In a broader sense, it can include everybody connected to a university.

When talking about "alumnae/alumni of the Assam down town University", the University includes all former students. We encourage Alumni Association as Alumni associations offer networking opportunities, which can connect recent graduates with established professionals and help people pursue career changes. Alumni can share their good and bad experiences with the present students.

When I was a student of Cotton College, I was motivated to pursue my singing. It was there in Cotton College where I overcame the stage fear, got motivated to pursue my cultural career along with my studies. As Alumni I feel proud that I got the opportunity to motivate my juniors. We in AdtU, invite our aspiring Alumni to deliver lecture to motivate the students and also to build relationships among themselves. Alumni in AdtU are also invited to big events like Attitude as these events help alumni build a community and stay connected with friends from college. Alumni events are also a great networking tool.

We wish our Alumni occupy positions of great responsibilities and leadership all over the country and aboard and make us proud.

I offer my best wishes to all alumni of Assam down town University and pray to the almighty for their good health and prosperity.

Long Live AdtU.

Regards,
Prof. Bandana Dutta.
