Research

My research area is mainly focussed on Genome Assisted Breeding, especially in rice. My research group have identified several QTLs associated with abiotic stress tolerance in rice. In collaboration with Assam Rice research Institute, Titabar, our group has develped several rice varieties, prominent among them is Ranjit-Sub1, a high-yielding rice variety that can tolerate submergence upto two weeks and this can give significant relief to farmers in case flood-prone areas.
