BASICS OF COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY
Course Overview

The course focuses on various variables that mediate or interact between input and output responses including the stimulus involving both. Cognitive psychology look at how perception, attention, memory, language and thinking process information around the world, the environment comes into our brain through any one of these senses or doorways to the mind and that information is called stimuli and produces a mass of data generally called the intellect. Cognitive psychology explores these complex and important human processes. In this course, students will learn the theories, methods, and concepts of cognitive psychology and apply them to many areas of life.

This course is designed to find the area of physiological psychology. Topics of study will concern basic information about the nervous system, sensory systems, physiological bases of behaviours and the development of learning and memory.

This course acquaints the student with the conceptual foundations on which modern psychology has been established. This is done by reviewing the history of psychological thought, emphasising the past century of formal systems, but also by dealing with the origins of psychology in post–Renaissance philosophy and allied sciences.

This course provide students with opportunity to practice and provide a variety of counseling related activities that would normally be expected of a regularly employed counselor.Prior to starting out the third semester, students must complete at least 30 days of block internship with hospitals, organizations, or clinics under a clinical psychologist/psychiatrist. During the third semester, the students should attend organizations. Expected learning should be with the following aspects: 1. Organizational Visit for 16 days is compulsory for the M.SC Clinical Psychology students. 2. Students will be divided into groups for one-to-one learning and for effective participation. 3. Students should prepare a psychological report and submit it to their respective faculty supervisor.
