Date- 05th Mar 2026

The workshop titled “From Idea to Market: Navigating Readiness Levels (TRL, MRL, IRL) and Intellectual Property Strategy” was successfully conducted at Assam down town University. The program provided participants with a comprehensive roadmap for transforming academic innovations into commercially viable solutions.

The event, hosted by Ameena Ahmed, commenced with the felicitation of the Guest Speaker by Prof. (Dr.) Dr. Saikat Sen, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science (FPS). In his address, he highlighted the growing importance for academic institutions to actively engage with India’s evolving startup ecosystem and innovation-driven economy.

The central segment of the workshop featured an in-depth lecture delivered by the Resource Person, focusing on key frameworks including Technology Readiness Levels (TRL), Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL), and Investment Readiness Levels (IRL), along with strategic approaches to Intellectual Property (IP) management. These frameworks were presented as essential tools for assessing the maturity and commercialization potential of innovative ideas.

To bridge theory with practical application, participants were divided into 12 groups and assigned a Key Performance Indicator (KPI)–based activity. During this hands-on session, students mapped their innovation concepts along the TRL scale, enabling them to evaluate the development stage of their ideas. The activity was complemented by an interactive mentoring session, during which the Resource Person provided constructive feedback and guidance to the participants.

The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony conducted by Dr. trinayan deka, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Manash Pratim Pathak, PhD. Participants expressed strong confidence in their ability to advance their innovative ideas toward commercialization and unanimously recommended the organization of more such specialized training programs in the future.
