AdtU Hosts NEPHROCON 2025, Showcasing Innovations in Renal Care and Public Health

Assam down town University recently hosted NEPHROCON 2025, an international conference on “Innovations in Renal Care for Public Health”. The two-day conference brought together leading nephrologists, public health experts, researchers, and students to explore the latest advancements and challenges in kidney care, with a strong focus on community and public health.

The event began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the enlightenment of knowledge and collaboration, and was led by distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Pratap Chandra Sarma, Chairperson, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, and Dr. Kanu Shil, M.Sc, PhD, Assistant Professor, Dialysis Technology & General Secretary of NEPHROCON 2025, among others. This was followed by the felicitation of dignitaries and a welcome address by Dr. Pratap Chandra Sarma, setting the tone for the academic discussions ahead.

One of the key highlights of the conference was the scientific address delivered by Dr. Kanu Shil, titled “Kidney Health of the Average Indian,” which provided valuable insights into the public health challenges of renal disease in India. Additionally, the conference saw student-led initiatives, including the launch of the wall magazine “NEPHRON,” created by the Dialysis Technology program students, and the presentation of 17 student research posters, showcasing the latest innovations in renal care.

The event also featured talks by renowned experts such as Dr. Sushanta Deb (USA) and Dr. Prakash Narayan, who led the plenary session on advanced developments in renal science and public health. The conference fostered collaboration among participants through cultural performances, prize distributions, and networking sessions, ensuring a well-rounded and interactive experience for all.

In closing, Dr. Dapkupar Wankhar, Dean, emphasized, “NEPHROCON 2025 is more than just a conference; it’s a platform where science meets society. Through student involvement, international expert talks, and a focus on public health, we are paving the way for a smarter future in renal care.”
