Course Overview

The main focus of the course cell biology is to study the structure and function of cells. This course will focus on Eukaryotic cell biology, including subjects such as membrane structure and composition, transport, and trafficking; the cytoskeleton and cell mobility; macromolecule breakdown and energy generation; and cell integration into tissues.

  • Develop skills to explain the differences among various stages of the cell cycle.

Course Overview

This course covers principles of microbiology and the impact of these organisms on man and the environment. Topics include the various groups of microorganisms, their structure, physiology, genetics, microbial pathogenicity, infectious diseases, immunology, and selected practical applications. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills including microscopy, aseptic technique, staining, culture methods, and identification of microorganisms.

An introduction to the study of biological processes at the molecular level with emphases on protein structure and function, enzyme mechanism and kinetics, fundamentals of physical biochemistry, and the chemistry of biological molecules, including carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids.

This is an introductory course for students with limited background in chemistry; basic concepts such as atomic and molecular structure, solutions, phases of matter, and quantitative problem-solving will be emphasized to prepare students for further study in chemistry.

This course brings the students an opportunity to learn basic grammar to be integrated into their writing and speaking skills. All the modules are meant for enhancing their professional success. Course Overview

Immunology is a field of biology that deals with prevention and understanding the basic mechanism of occurrence of disease. This helps to develop better strategies and therapeutical measures to disease management and cure. The theory of immunology revolves around recognition between self and non-self antigens and the immune response generated thereafter. The course would include cells and structure of the immune system, Antibodies, antigen antibody interaction, immunodeficiency, transplantation immunology and autoimmune disorders. It is an interesting branch of science and deals with the defence mechanisms including innate and acquired immunity that helps an organism to combat its susceptibility to foreign organisms, material, etc.
