Research

I plan to explore in developing newer broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptides from natural sources such as marine and freshwater reserves in a systematic process. As we are heading towards the post antibiotic era, we must obtain novel antimicrobials for future clinical applications. Through my approach, I am confident of obtaining newer antimicrobials for clinical trials and probable applications. Along with peptides as therapeutics, I will systematically explore hybrid molecules such as peptide drug conjugate, peptide lipid conjugate, or peptide metal conjugates. The sole aim of the research is to develop novel antimicrobial formulations for clinical application. Apart from peptides, I plan to explore additional molecules of therapeutic interest from similar sources in future projects.
