The World Tourism Day Celebration was organized by the Discipline of Hospitality & Tourism Management, Faculty of Commerce & Management, Assam down town University. The event brought together faculty, students, and distinguished guests to reflect on the importance of responsible tourism and cultural appreciation.
The ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp lighting and a heartfelt 'Shradhanjali' to the late cultural icon Zubeen Garg, setting a respectful tone for the event. A special tribute song was performed by students, commemorating Zubeen Garg's contributions to regional culture. The program showcased homage and academic engagement, featuring a soulful Saraswati Bandana and a welcome song by students.
Expert talks were delivered by renowned experts, including Dr. Shreya Barbara, who shared insightful perspectives on sustainable tourism, fostering dialogue on best practices and the future of responsible tourism. A student-performed skit titled “The Forgotten Village” creatively showcased rural tourism challenges and the need for community involvement in sustainable development.
The celebration culminated on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, uniting everyone in a spirit of national pride and shared purpose. The outcome of the event was highly positive, promoting the message of sustainable and responsible tourism and fostering cultural appreciation among participants.
