World Tourism Day 2026 marked a significant milestone for Assam down town University as the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management formally became an independent Faculty of Study.

The program began with the digital unveiling of the new Faculty, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. N. N. Dutta in the presence of members of the Management Trustee.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. C. Talukdar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pranveer Singh and Dean Dr. Bhola Chourasia addressed the gathering. Guests of Honour Mr. Arijit Purkayastha, Founder and Director of Koyeli Tours and Travels (P) Ltd, and Mr. Chandan Nath, Director of CN Travels, shared industry perspectives.

The program concluded with a lunch prepared and hosted by Hotel Management students, showcasing their culinary and hospitality skills.

The celebration marked a new chapter for tourism education at AdtU, bringing together academic learning, industry experience and the rich cultural heritage of the Northeast.
