As part of its Outreach and Extension Activities, Assam down town University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences (FHSS), and the Faculty of Nursing, organised a meaningful program at Chhaygaon College, Chhaygaon, Guwahati, on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day.
Centred on the theme “Beyond the Silence: Cultivating Hope, Connection and Compassion for Suicide Prevention,” the program encouraged students and faculty to foster awareness, empathy, and open conversations around suicide prevention and mental well-being.
Adding a powerful creative dimension, Psychology students from Assam down town University presented a thought-provoking drama, “Light of Hope,” highlighting the importance of hope, connection, compassion, and reaching out to those who may be struggling.
Through insightful lectures, meaningful discussions, and the powerful message of Light of Hope, the programme reinforced a simple yet important message: breaking the silence, creating safe spaces, and standing together can help cultivate hope and compassion.
