World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 Observed with Awareness Session Promoting Early Support, Empathy and Mental Health

Assam down town University, in collaboration with Shrijan Rehabilitation Care, observed World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 with the theme “Recognise. Reach Out. Respond.”

The program focused on raising awareness about mental health, encouraging open conversations, and highlighting the importance of early support and intervention. The session was led by Ms. Pallavi Sharma, Counselling Psychologist and Project Coordinator at Shrijan Rehabilitation Care, and a Certified Suicide Prevention Trainer with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field.

Through an interactive session, she spoke about recognising warning signs of emotional distress, responding with empathy, and the role individuals, friends, and communities can play in suicide prevention. She also shared practical ways to offer support, encourage professional help, and create safe, non-judgmental spaces for those in need.

The program concluded with a heartfelt testimonial and an inspiring address by the President of Shrijan Rehabilitation Care, leaving participants with a powerful message of hope, compassion, and collective responsibility.
