Assam down town University, through its Faculty of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (FPAR), successfully celebrated World Physiotherapy Day, with the theme “The role of physiotherapy and physical activity in the prevention, management and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and stroke.” 

The program brought together around 350 students, 17 teachers and 2 non-teaching staff, with the presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor, along with the Associate Dean, FPAR, faculty members from the Faculty of Allied and Healthcare Sciences and Faculty of Nursing, and special guest Dr. Rahul Baruah (PT). 

The celebration featured a series of engaging activities, including Poster Presentation, Rangoli Competition and Short Video Making Competition, showcasing students’ scientific awareness, creativity and understanding of the role of physiotherapy in promoting health and well-being. 

The highlight of the program was an insightful seminar by Dr. Rahul Baruah (PT) on the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics and technology-driven rehabilitation in stroke recovery, highlighting how these advancements are enabling more personalised, intensive, measurable and patient-centred rehabilitation. 

The celebration was further enriched by music, dance and drama performances, while the active participation of students, faculty members and 10 volunteers ensured its smooth and successful execution. Overall, the event strengthened awareness of physiotherapy in the prevention, management and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and stroke, while fostering teamwork, collaboration, creativity and enthusiasm across the university community.
