Assam down town University, through the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, proudly celebrated World Pharmacist Day 2026 under the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures,” highlighting the evolving role of pharmacists in healthcare, professional development and patient-centred care.

The program featured Mr. Hemanta Pathak, Registrar, Assam Pharmacy Council, Guwahati, Assam, who shared valuable insights on the expanding responsibilities of pharmacists, career preparedness and the importance of continuous skill development in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. An online academic session on “Empowering Pharmacists through Network Pharmacology: From Molecules to Therapeutic Targets in Diabetes” was delivered by Dr. Sasikala Chinnappan, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Biology, UCSI University, Malaysia, providing students with insights into how network pharmacology integrates pharmacological targets, signalling pathways and molecular interactions to understand therapeutic mechanisms in diabetes, while exploring systems-level approaches for identifying novel therapeutic targets and supporting evidence-based interventions.

As part of the World Pharmacists Day/National Pharmacy Week 2026 celebrations, the Faculty also organised a Pharma Quiz Competition to promote pharmaceutical knowledge, scientific aptitude and healthy academic competition, with awards presented to the winners for their outstanding performance.

The celebration served as a meaningful platform to recognise the vital contribution of pharmacists towards safe, effective, rational and accessible healthcare, while reaffirming AdtU’s commitment to nurturing competent, skilled, ethical and future-ready pharmacy professionals.
