Assam down town University proudly observed World Optometry Day with a series of impactful activities organized by the Programme of Optometry, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences.
Centered around the theme "Eyes to the Future: Optometry Improving Global Wellness," the event highlighted the significance of vision care in daily life and the importance of preventive eye health measures.
The celebration featured a Free Eye Screening Camp on March 21st, offering essential vision check-ups to students, faculty, and staff, raising awareness about common eye health issues. On March 22nd, a special Lecture Series was conducted by Dr. Angshuman Deka, DOMS, DNB (OPTHAL), Senior Consultant and Director of Guwahati Eye & Multi-Speciality Centre, where he shared valuable insights into optometry and vision science. Additionally, an engaging Scientific Poster Competition, inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar, provided a platform for Optometry students to showcase their research and advancements in the field. The celebration concluded with a vibrant Cultural Program, fostering unity and enthusiasm among participants.
