






Assam down town University observed World Health Day, organized by the Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) Unit of the Faculty of Nursing, with active participation from students and faculty members. The program was held under the theme “Together for Health. Stand with Science”, highlighting the importance of evidence-based practice and collaborative efforts in strengthening healthcare.
The event began with a welcome address by Ms. Pinky Chetia, SNA Advisor, who emphasized the significance of adopting scientific approaches in nursing care. The bulletin boards prepared by students were formally inaugurated by the Dean, Faculty of Nursing along with invited dignitaries. A panel discussion on the theme “Together for Health. Stand with Science: Role of Nurse” was conducted, where selected SNA members shared their perspectives on evidence-based nursing, combating misinformation, community participation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Minakshi Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor, Faculty of Science, AdtU.
A poster-making competition on the theme “Care with Compassion, Practice with Evidence” was also organized to encourage awareness and creativity among students. The competition was judged by DR. ARNABJYOTI DEVA SARMA (Ph.D), Assistant Professor, Faculty of Allied and Healthcare Sciences, and Ms. Sujana Yambem, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Nursing, Assam down town University.
The program concluded with the announcement of the Best Poster and Best Panellist for World Health Day 2026, followed by a vote of thanks by Ms. Lisha Chetia, SNA Secretary. The celebration successfully reinforced the role of nursing professionals in promoting health through teamwork and evidence-based practice.
