






Assam down town University successfully conducted a workshop on “Startups and Careers in Northeast India Tourism”, organized by the Discipline of Hospitality and Tourism Management under the Faculty of Commerce & Management.
The session served as an engaging platform for students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and faculty members to understand the evolving dynamics of the tourism industry. With a strong focus on innovation, career readiness, and the untapped potential of the northeastern region, the workshop encouraged participants to think beyond conventional career choices.
The event was graced by Mr. Himangshu Baruah, a distinguished tourism entrepreneur, educator, and founder of Finderbridge Tourism, as well as a recipient of the Young Entrepreneur Award at the Indian Achievers’ Awards 2021. His insights brought real-world relevance to the discussion, motivating students to align their passions with practical opportunities. Dr. Seema Sharma, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, also played a key role in facilitating the successful execution of the event.
During his session, Mr. Baruah emphasized the importance of tourism in preserving cultural heritage while contributing to regional economic growth. He highlighted the need for experience-driven travel, strong communication skills, and strategic career planning. He also encouraged students to adopt a startup mindset and explore innovative ways to showcase the rich diversity of Northeast India.
