






Assam down town University, through the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, organized a one-day workshop titled “Infusing Innovation with Enterprise: Entrepreneurial Lessons from Young Founders”.
The workshop began with the customary lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by the inaugural address by Dr. M. K. Modi, Executive Dean, AdtU, who highlighted the growing importance of entrepreneurship, innovation, and risk-taking in today’s dynamic economy. The gathering was also addressed by Dr. Robin Gogoi, OSD to the Faculty of Science, and Dr. K. B. Pun, Dean, FAST, AdtU, after which the resource persons were introduced and felicitated.
The sessions featured Mr. Surjya Prakash Borthakur and Mr. Sudarshan Deka, Directors of Deroi Tea, who shared their journey of identifying the untapped potential of Assam tea, focusing on product innovation, branding, quality assurance, digital marketing, and expanding into wider markets. Mr. Trailukya Dutta, Founder & CEO of Tholua Pratisthan Pvt. Ltd., spoke about innovation-driven rural entrepreneurship and the production of black garlic, encouraging students to transform local challenges into business opportunities.
The workshop concluded with an engaging panel discussion featuring the speakers along with Mr. Pranjal Kumar Sarmah, where students interacted with the entrepreneurs and gained valuable insights into building sustainable ventures and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors.
