Assam down town University celebrated the rich essence of Assam’s folk heritage through a two-day workshop on Goalporiya and Kamrupi Lokogeet, organized by the Programme of Performing Arts under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Mentored by renowned All India Radio artists Anindita Choudhury, a distinguished Goalporiya folk artist, and Snehalata Das, an eminent Kamrupi Lokogeet artist, the workshop offered students a rare opportunity to learn directly from masters of the craft.
Through engaging, hands-on sessions, students learned two Goalporiya and two Kamrupi Lokogeets, gaining deeper insights into vocal techniques, stylistic expressions, and the cultural roots of these traditional musical forms.
The enthusiasm and active participation of the students reflected their passion for preserving and celebrating regional art forms, making the workshop a truly enriching academic and experiential journey.
