On May 8th, 2023, the Faculty of Commerce and Management at Assam down town University organized a felicitation ceremony for the winners of MasterChef 2023, Mr. Nayan Jyoti Saikia, and Mrs. Shanta Sharma. As part of the program, a culinary competition called "Rock on Fire" was arranged, in which nine teams consisting of Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHMCT) students participated. After showcasing their culinary skills and creativity, three teams were declared winners.

The felicitation program was arranged to celebrate the achievement of the MasterChef winners and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all those involved. The program started with the lighting lamps and a Welcome address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Assam downtown University. The MasterChef winners shared their experiences and inaugurated the Limca Book of Records certificate for making 517 assorted pastries in 3 hours and 44 minutes, in which a team of 25 in-house chefs comprising students and faculty of BHMCT participated on May 11th, 2022. The program was attended by the Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. N.N Dutta, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr). N. C Talukdar, Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor (Prof. )Dr. Pranveer Singh, Respected Dean of Studies Prof. (Dr.) Bandana Dutta, Respected Trustee Members, Dean Faculty of Commerce and Management, Faculties of Faculty of Commerce and Management, Officers from the Administrative department, Teachers from Downtown School, and Students from both Assam downtown University and Downtown School. 

The ceremony also included a prize distribution ceremony where all the winners were awarded trophies and certificates.Prof. Dr. Ramanjeet Singh, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, delivered the vote of thanks. Overall, it was a day filled with celebration and recognition of the culinary talents of BHMCT students and the winners of MasterChef 2023.
