Congratulations on A Milestone in Collaborative Research Dr. Dhrubajyoti Gogoi!
We are thrilled to celebrate the groundbreaking achievement resulting from the partnership between Nagaland University and Assam down town University (AdtU)!
Together, our institutions have completed the first comprehensive scientific study on the endangered medicinal plant, Goniothalamus simonsii (G. simonsii).
Key Highlights of the Discovery:
Traditional Wisdom Validated: This endangered Meghalayan plant, traditionally used for ailments like gastrointestinal complications, typhoid, and malaria, is now scientifically proven to be a powerhouse of bioactive phytochemicals.
Promising Biomedical Potential: The study confirmed G. simonsii exhibits strong anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-microbial, and anti-cancer effects.
Advanced Science: Using sophisticated analytical tools and computational modeling, the team successfully demonstrated how the plant's natural compounds interact with cancer-related proteins, providing crucial leads for nature-based therapeutic drug development.
A Shout-Out to the Dedicated Team comprising:
- Research Lead: Dr. Mayur Mausoom Phukan (Nagaland University)
- AdtU Contributor: Dr. Dhrubajyoti Gogoi (Assam down town University)
- Team Members: Dr. Pranay Punj Pankaj and Vahshi Chongloi (Nagaland University)
Congratulations to the entire research team for this significant contribution to both biomedical science and the urgent need for biodiversity conservation!
Your findings, published in the peer-reviewed journal Chemistry and Biodiversity, shine a spotlight on the invaluable resources of the Northeast.
