Assam down town University proudly announces the participation of Prof. (Dr.) Mahendra Modi, Executive Dean, as a distinguished speaker at the I Simpósio Internacional Multidisciplinar dos Professores Visitantes (Multidisciplinary International Symposium organized by Visiting Professors), held on May 27, 2025, at the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (IPB), Portugal.
Representing the university on a global stage, Prof. Dr. Modi delivered a compelling presentation on the theme “Academic Internationalisation and the SDGs: Challenges and Perspectives,” offering valuable insights into how global academic collaboration can advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Contributing to the event's success, Dr. Yashmin Nongrum, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Sciences and currently serving as a Visiting Professor at IPB, played a key role as one of the event’s organizers and also moderated one of the symposium sessions. The symposium brought together educators and thought leaders from across Brazil, Africa, Guatemala, Central America, and India, with discussions centered around multilevel academic cooperation, research networks and social impact, academic mobility, sustainability in higher education, and inclusive internationalisation.
This international platform highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary approaches for local and global development, also marked a significant step toward strengthening global academic networks. Prof. Dr. Modi’s participation has contributed to shaping forward-thinking strategies for inclusive, sustainable, and globally connected higher education.
